EV roadside assistance in Pinellas Park is a mobile charge or a 12-volt jump. This city sits mid-county on the St. Petersburg and south Pinellas peninsula. Charge Pro TPA matches stranded drivers with independent local operators. Those operators meet you on US-19, Gandy, Park Boulevard, 49th Street, or I-275.

The middle of the peninsula, not the beach

Pinellas Park is the middle of the peninsula, not the gulf beaches. It’s just over 16 square miles of central Pinellas, between St. Petersburg and Largo. Census ACS 2019-2023 puts the city at 53,423 residents. The 2024 Census population estimate is 53,503. Neighbors are St. Petersburg, Lealman, Largo, and Seminole. Named pockets inside town include Mainlands, Bonair, Skyview, and the Freedom Lake area.

A stall here is a Pinellas Park problem on surface streets and I-275. Drivers coming up from St. Petersburg stay on the same flat peninsula. The heat doesn’t ease just because you crossed a city line. You’re still in the middle of Pinellas, with US-19 as the commercial spine.

US-19, Gandy, and the rest of the grid

US-19 is the stoplight-heavy spine through Pinellas Park. That matters more than a map makes it look. You creep, you stop, you run the air the whole time. Range estimates built for a highway cruise don’t match that rhythm. When the pack hits a number you can’t trust, leave the travel lane.

Gandy Boulevard is the east-west cut toward I-275. Park Boulevard and 49th Street carry local trips through the middle of town. I-275 is the limited-access option if you were crossing the peninsula. The Freedom Lake area sits inside that same mid-county grid. Mainlands, Bonair, and Skyview sit on that same grid.

The mid-Pinellas industrial belt adds fleet traffic to those same roads. Delivery EVs and work vans sit, idle, and then fail to restart. That’s a different call from a family car on Park Boulevard. It’s still the same bumper, and it’s still a mobile rescue.

Apartment renters show up as the third pattern. They often depend on public charging for daily miles. A car that sat in a lot through the afternoon can refuse to wake. That can be an empty traction pack. It can also be a cooked 12-volt.

EV roadside assistance is how you get an independent operator to that spot. Charge Pro TPA doesn’t own the truck. The operator quotes you before work starts, then bills you directly.

Heat does the draining on this flat city

Pinellas Park is flat and near sea level, so grade never gives range back. Heat and air conditioning set what you actually get. Tampa Bay runs a long AC season from spring into late fall. Recurrent Auto published the heat range-loss figures owners actually feel. An EV loses about 5 percent of range at 90°F. Loss climbs to 20 to 30 percent above 95°F. Near 100°F, Recurrent puts the hit around 17 to 18 percent. The effect varies widely by model.

US-19 stop-and-go stacks on top of that AC load. You planned a buffer for cooler, faster miles. Central Pinellas doesn’t offer those miles most of the year.

Lightning is part of the same climate file. Vaisala’s National Lightning Detection Network repeatedly ranks Florida among the most lightning-dense states. Treat this metro as one of the most lightning-prone in the country, per Vaisala. If a storm is on you, wait in the car with the doors shut. Don’t stand outside holding a charge connector.

If you’re already on I-275

Some Pinellas Park trips are only on I-275 for a few exits. An empty pack there is a shoulder problem, not a parking-lot problem. Florida Statute 316.194 covers stopping outside a business or residence district. A disabled vehicle may stay on the pavement when you can’t leave it. A dead EV counts as that disabled vehicle.

FDOT Road Rangers in District 7 patrol I-275. The District 7 Regional Traffic Management Center is the Tampa Bay SunGuide Center. Dial *347 from a mobile phone for that free patrol. Published Road Ranger services include fuel, a 12-volt jump, and tire help. They also offer two free local calls. They can move a disabled vehicle to a safer spot. The materials reviewed don’t list charging an EV.

Florida Highway Patrol Troop C covers disabled vehicles and incidents on the interstates. Florida 511 is the state’s traffic information system if lanes are blocked. For the charge itself once you’re stable, use our empty pack on I-275 walkthrough.

Apartments, older houses, and Duke’s programs

About 25.1 percent of Pinellas Park housing was built before 1980, per ACS 2019-2023. That’s a proxy for homes that may need work before a 240-volt charger. It isn’t a rule that your house can’t take one. It’s a reason a lot of drivers still live on public charging, including renters. Next-door Lealman has 56.6 percent of housing built before 1980, per ACS 2019-2023.

Condo owners have a Florida-specific path for a home charger. Florida Statute 718.113(8) covers condo EV chargers. A unit owner may install one in a limited common element or exclusive space. A declaration can’t block a properly submitted request. The owner pays for installation, operation, maintenance, insurance, and separately metered power.

Duke Energy Florida serves Pinellas County, so it serves Pinellas Park. In 2025 Duke launched a Charger Prep Credit, an Off-Peak Charging Credit, and Fleet Advisory. The Charger Prep Credit is a one-time credit toward wiring and electrical upgrades. It applies to homes and businesses. It doesn’t cover the charger hardware or permit fees. Confirm current terms on Duke’s own pages before you budget around them. Florida doesn’t have a state EV purchase rebate. Utility programs are the local incentive layer.

Fleet Advisory is worth naming if you run vans in the industrial belt. It doesn’t replace a roadside charge when a van is already dead.

What the operator brings to the bumper

The operators we connect you with bring a 240V Level 2 source to the car. Teslas use a native NACS plug, and other brands use CCS or J1772. A typical session adds about 10 to 20 miles of range. That’s 15 to 30 minutes of charging time, never an arrival time. The point is enough miles to reach the plug you already had in mind.

Mobile EV charging is that session. If the pack is fine and the car still won’t wake, start with the 12-volt. Heat here cooks that small battery. It runs the computers and the contactors that close the pack. A dead 12-volt looks like a dead car. The operators we send can jump or replace it on site. Tesla calls often start with that 12-volt. So do Hyundai, Ford, Chevy, and Rivian calls. See Tesla 12-volt jump help if the screens are dark.

Charge Pro TPA doesn’t hold a trade license and employs no technicians. It’s a referral line for Tampa Bay. The operator on the call is independent, and they quote before they start.

Charge it, or wait for a tow

An empty pack is a charge problem, not a tow-yard problem. A bent wheel, a stuck park pawl, or crash damage is a tow problem. Many EVs shouldn’t be flat-towed without drivetrain damage. They need a flatbed so the drivetrain isn’t dragged.

On private property, Florida Statute 715.07 covers non-consent tows. Signage rules are specific, and the tower has to file rates with local law enforcement. Pinellas County caps those non-consent rates by Ordinance 19-39. That’s Code of Ordinances Chapter 122, Article II.5, §122-42. Exact dollar caps were not confirmed against the live current schedule. Confirm the posted cap with the county or the tower before you pay. Hillsborough sets its own caps if you got towed across the bay. Don’t mix Pinellas caps with Hillsborough’s schedule. Pinellas qualifies as a large county, so storage has a 10-mile radius rule.

If you’re choosing between electrons and a hook, read mobile EV charge or a tow. Call for a charge when the car is intact and the pack is empty. Call for a tow when the car can’t roll or isn’t safe to sit.

Storms on this peninsula

Hurricane Helene in late September 2024 drove record surge at Tampa Bay gauges. Pinellas barrier islands from the Dunedin Causeway through Tierra Verde were closed. Pinellas Park sits inland of that island chain, in the peninsula’s middle. Hurricane Milton in early October 2024 largely spared Pinellas a second catastrophic surge. It still dropped heavy rain on parts of nearby St. Petersburg.

If an EV took on salt water, follow federal and fire-service guidance. A soaked pack can be a delayed fire risk. Keep that car away from buildings and other vehicles until it’s inspected. Don’t treat a flood-damaged EV as a simple jump.

When to pick up the phone

Call when the pack is empty and the car isn’t moving. Call when the 12-volt is dead and nothing wakes. Call when you’re on US-19 or Gandy and you won’t make your planned plug. Tell the operator which corridor you’re on. A posted industrial driveway isn’t the same meet as a shoulder.

Call Charge Pro TPA at (813) 536-4545 to be matched with a local operator. That’s a referral, not a promise of when someone arrives.
